Work Experience (School years 10-13)

Each year GWP are able to provide a few work experience opportunities to students from local secondary schools who are interested in gaining an insight into possible careers after studying Earth Science subjects. Each year we offer a week of work experience for up to 3 students from Year 10 onwards.

Although initial contact may be made by parents or schools, we like those seeking work experience to show a bit of initiative themselves. We always like to meet each student for an informal interview before they are offered a place.

If you are interested in undertaking work experience with GWP, write or email explaining why you are interested in work experience in physical geography or geology and what it is about GWP's range of activities that particularly interests you. Provide us with the dates during which you would like to undertake your work experience. It would be useful if Year 12 and 13 students could enclose a CV (if you haven't got one yet, this is something you will need soon, so now is a good time to start one).

We often start receiving applications in October/November for the following summer, however if you are not an early bird you can always contact us nearer the time to ask if we have any opportunities still available.

Email (info@gwp.uk.com) or write to Jeremy Baldock at GWP Consultants LLP, Upton House, Market Street, Charlbury, Oxfordshire, OX7 3PJ.

Summer placement for undergraduates

Most years GWP offer one summer work placement to a highly motivated undergraduate student who is studying a relevant subject at degree level. The successful student is usually in their second year of their degree and the placement is normally timed to take place after having completed the fieldwork for the final project/dissertation for a period of 6-8 weeks.

During your summer placement you will be exposed to a variety of office and site based experiences across the range of work GWP is undertaking at the time. In addition to the position offering you the opportunity to experience working in a medium sized consultancy. Students undertaking summer placements with GWP are paid and if you live further afield, accommodation can usually be arranged for you in Charlbury.
